COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Boilers (26-19, 8-10 Big Ten) fell in both games to the No. 22 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.
Julia Gossett had a solo home run, while earning two hits on the day. With the the 45th hit by pitch of the season, the Boilers have tied the single season record set originally in 2009 and tied by last year's Boilermakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the first, Khloe Banks and Moriah Polar earned first and second after back-to-back walks. Delaney Reefe did her job, putting down a sacrifice-bunt to move the runners over before a sac-fly from Gossett plated the first run. The Boilers plated two more in the inning after an error from the Buckeye first baseman. In the bottom of the first, Madi Elish shut down Ohio State in order.
In the second Elish sent another three straight Buckeyes back to the dugout, while the Boilers left one on in the top of the inning. Purdue was unable to put a runner aboard in the top of the third, while the Buckeyes plated their first run of the day on a sacrifice fly. Ohio State then brought the game within one on a single to right center.
The Boilers stranded two in the top of the fourth, after back-to-back walks from Alivia Meeks and Kylie Franks. Kendall Klochack came to the mound in the fourth, earning a huge out to end the threat and keep the score even at three. Klochack was replaced by Gossett in the fifth, who came to the mound with one out. The Buckeyes quickly took the lead after a throwing error from Reefe, but Gossett continued to work, striking out a batter with the bases loaded, but then walking a batter to give Ohio State a two-run lead. The Buckeyes continued to add more to their lead with a three-run triple to bring the score ahead 8-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, Kadyn Camper took over in the circle for Gossett, surrendering two runs with four walks.
Banks led off the top of the seventh with a single to third, but a double play and ground out ended game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Boilers got on the board first in the top of the second, after a solo home run from Gossett. The Buckeyes quickly responded, sending out two balls to bring Ohio State ahead by four.
In the top of the third, Meeks singled through the right side and moved to third after a sac-bunt and a ground out. Polar added the second run to the board for the Boilers with an RBI single up the middle.
During the bottom of the third, Gossett loaded the bases, and the Buckeyes added one more to their lead after earning an RBI walk. Gossett then worked out of the inning earning a strikeout.
After a scoreless fourth on both sides, the Boilers added a run in the top of the fifth. Sage Scarmardo led off the inning with a single, before Meeks doubled to the left center wall. Pinch-hitter Ryen Ross then plated the run on a sacrifice fly to bring the deficit to three.
In the bottom of the fifth, Ohio State worked right back, plating two more runs on an in-the-park home run, but the Boilers continued to fight. In the top of the sixth, Kyndall Bailey's pinch-hit double scored another run for the Boilers, bringing the deficit back to half.
The Buckeyes opened the floodgates in the bottom of the fifth, after a three-run homer brought the lead out to seven runs. The Boilers switched pitchers, but Ohio State ended the game with a two-run homer.
