WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue (26-17, 8-8 Big Ten) triumphed over Miami (Ohio) (26-23, 15-7 MAC) 2-0 behind a one-hit gem from Julia Gossett.
Gossett registered 10 strikeouts in the circle and allowed only one hit. Khloe Banks and Moriah Polar were the only runs of the game and both went 3-for-3 at the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Gossett started the game with a strikeout, and the infield followed it up with two caught fly balls. Polar and Banks made it on base in the bottom of the first inning, but the Boilermakers went scoreless. The Redhawks put a hit on the board in the second inning, but the Boilers stopped the damage before the runner could score.
Purdue sent Miami down in order in the top of the third frame, then carried that momentum to the plate. Banks made it on base and a line drive up the middle by Polar sent her home. Maura Condon hit the ball to the left side and Polar scored on a Redhawk errant throw, extending the lead.
The Boilers had another set of back-to-back outs in the top of the fourth inning to hold the Redhawks at no runs. Jordyn Ramos had a hit out to right centerfield, but was left on base. Banks and Polar both made it on base again in the fifth inning but weren't able to add any more runs to the score.
The sixth inning brought no runs or hits from either side, and Purdue secured their 2-0 win with three quick outs in the seventh.
