<br /><br />The Purdue men's tennis team is set to close the regular season on the road at Penn State (12-13, 0-11 Big Ten) and at No. 3 Ohio State (22-2, 13-0 Big Ten). The Boilermakers will take on the Nittany Lions on Friday at 10 a.m. ET followed by the Buckeyes on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team is set to close the regular season on the road at Penn State (12-13, 0-11 Big Ten) and at No. 3 Ohio State (22-2, 13-0 Big Ten). The Boilermakers will take on the Nittany Lions on Friday at 10 a.m. ET followed by the Buckeyes on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
 
WHAT TO KNOW
  • Two Boilermakers picked up ranked singles wins over the weekend, with Henrik Villanger earning his first ranked victory of his career vs. #120 Dzianis Zharyn of Washington while at the No. 2 position. Then, Aleksa Krivokapic downed No. 103 Lenn Luemkemann of Oregon.
  • In last year's 6-1 win over Penn State, Daniel Labrador, Juan David Velasquez and Henrik Villanger all picked up singles wins to help the Boilermakers secure their first win against Penn State since 2018.
  • Nour Fathalla picked up his 13th singles win of the season and sixth in Big Ten play defeating Washington's Ivan Sodan 6-3, 6-4.
  • The Boilermakers enter the final ranking 10th in the league standings. Purdue (3-8) is joined by Northwestern (4-7), Oregon (3-8) and Wisconsin (3-8) as the teams considered on the bubble for the Big Ten tournament, which begins next Thursday, April 24 in Columbus, Ohio.
HENRIK VILLANGER
  • The sophomore went 2-0 against Washington and Oregon, helping to clinch the win against Oregon after defeating Clement Lemire 7-6 (5), 7-5.
  • At the No. 2 spot against Washington, Villanger took down No. 120 Dzianis Zharyn 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to pick up the first ranked win of his career.
ALEKSA KRIVOKAPIC
  • The junior moved up four spots in this week's ITA rankings, coming in at No. 65.
  • Krivokapic picked up his third ranked win of the season, taking down No. 103 Lenn Luemkemann 7-5, 7-5. All three of his ranked wins have come in the last 30 days.
LOOKING AHEAD
  • Penn State is looking for their first Big Ten win of the season in the last weekend of regular season play.
  • Three Buckeyes are ranked within the top 100 in ITA rankings, No. 11 Aidan Kim, No. 59 Alexander Bernard and No. 93 Jack Anthrop. Two doubles pairs are also ranked, No. 73 Bryce Nakishma/William Jansen and No. 88 William Jansen/Aidan Kim.
  • Ohio State clinched a share of their 19th consecutive Big Ten title following a 4-0 sweep of Northwestern.
