Hantson Leads Decathlon After Day 1 in California

AZUSA, Calif. – Andreas Hantson leads the decathlon after the opening day of the Bryan Clay Multis in California.
 
Men's Notes
• Hantson leads all decathletes through the first five events with 4,160 points. He leads the 'B Group' by 189 points.
• He stared the day with a personal-best, wind-aided, 11.05 in the 100m. He followed with a personal-best, wind-aided, long jump (7.37m (24-02.25). A 13.10m (42-11.75) personal best in the shot put followed for Hantson. He then fell just short of a personal best in the high jump 2.12m (6-11.50).
Logan Sandlin ranks 11th in 'A Group' of the heptathlon after the first five events. He fell just below is personal bests and had his best event finish at third in the 400m (49.32).
 
Women's Notes
Jalen Elrod is fifth in the heptathlon "Group A'  with 3,342 points. She won the 200m (24.04) to shatter her previous personal best of 24.85. She also started the day with a wind-aided 13.77 for a personal best in the 100mH.
Angeline Amefia ranks seventh through the first four events in the heptathlon 'Group A.' She finished fourth in the 100mH despite facing a +1.5 m/s headwind for a personal-best time (13.79). She also had a personal best in the shot put (10.64m / 34-11.00).
