FEDERAL WAY, Wash. Brady Samuels eclipsed his own school record in the 100 butterfly while breaking 45 seconds in both the prelims and finals, headlining Purdue Men's Swimming & Diving's three All-America honorees on Friday at the NCAA Championships.

Jordan Rzepka won the 3-meter consolation final (ninth overall) to finish top 10 at the national championship meet for the second day in a row. Max Miller was also a consolation finalist (14th overall) on 3-meter Friday and both Boilermakers are All-America honorees on both springboards this year. They each earned their first career All-America honors on 3-meter.

Samuels qualified for the consolation final with a time of 44.94 in the prelims, officially becoming the first Boilermaker to go sub-45 seconds in the 100 fly. In his second swim, the senior officially cemented the program record at 44.87, a benchmark that could ultimately stand a long time. Entering Samuels' freshman season in 2021-22, Andrew Langenfeld's team record (46.15) had stood since 2009. Samuels first eclipsed that mark at the Purdue Invitational in November 2021. As his collegiate career comes to a close this weekend, he has lowered the benchmark by remarkable 1.28 seconds in a 100-yard race.

On Saturday, Samuels has an opportunity to add the 100 freestyle to his list of team records that also includes the 50 free and 200 free, 100 backstroke and 100 fly. He's already become Purdue's first All-American in a butterfly event since Sam Wilcher in 2010. Wilcher's time in the 200 fly (1:43.82) from that season continues to stand as the team record.

Rzepka completed the career achievement of earning All-America honors in all three diving events. He had the top scoring dives among the field in each of the last two rounds to surge to the top of the leaderboard in the consolation final. He ripped his final dive – a forward 2 ½ somersault 3-twisting pike (5156B) – for a big score of 91.35.

With his Big Ten championship-winning event (platform) still to come Saturday, Rzepka has already become Purdue's eighth male diver to be an All-American in all three events during his career. Tyler Downs (2022) was the last to accomplish the feat.

It was the second Friday in a row a Boilermaker won the 3-meter consolation final at NCAAs after Sophie McAfee did the same last week at the women's national championship meet.

The NCAA Championships conclude Saturday with swimming prelims at 1 p.m. ET, the platform diving prelim at 3 p.m. ET, the platform consolation final at 8:15 p.m. ET and the finals session at 9 p.m. ET. Purdue is in 18th place in the team scoring with 33 points.
