WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's basketball team closed out the 2024-25 season on Sunday afternoon, falling to Indiana 77-57 at Mackey Arena.
The Boilermakers honored Jayla Smith, Destini Lombard, Mahri Petree, Ella Collier and Reagan Bass in a postgame ceremony.
Purdue (10-19, 3-15) was led offensively by Lana McCarthy's 15 points, her season high in Big Ten play, and seven rebounds. The freshman was 6-of-13 from the field and 3-of-4 at the line.
Sophie Swanson reached double figures for the seventh time in the last nine games with 11 points on a trio of 3-pointers. Swanson ended the season with multiple 3-pointers in seven straight games. The sophomore ended the year with a team-high 44 triples.
Rashunda Jones tallied nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
Purdue committed aa season-low 10 turnovers and flipped 12 miscues by Indiana (18-11, 10-8) into 13 points. Shooting proved to be the difference, as Purdue went 36.5% from the field and 5-of-23 from behind the arc, while the Hoosiers posted a 52.8% clip from the floor and 7-of-20 from distance.
Reminiscent of the first meeting between the two clubs, Indiana used an early run in the first quarter to establish a gap. Purdue kept pace on both ends of the floor over the final 30 minutes, as Indiana outscored the hosts by five.
