LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Boilers fell 6-0 in their Big Ten opener at No. 6 UCLA on Friday night. Purdue moves to 15-10 and 0-1 in conference play.
Moriah Polar, Khloe Banks, and Jordyn Ramos had the only hits of the night for the Boilermakers, each earning a single. The win over Purdue marked the first-ever Big Ten win for UCLA since the 2024-25 conference realignment.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the first, the Boilers put one aboard on a single to left center from Moriah Polar, but left her stranded. UCLA earned one hit in the bottom of the inning, but Madi Elish fought to strand the runner.
Purdue went down in order in the top of the second, while UCLA also made three quick outs, with just one walk in the inning. Khloe Banks added the second hit of the game for the Boilers in the top of the third, but was thrown out at second to make the third out of the inning. UCLA plated the first runs of the game in the bottom of the inning after a double, a walk, an error, and a pair of sacrifice flies. The Bruins took a 3-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth.
The Bruins extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth, after plating three more runs on a walk, a single, and a three-run homer that brought them all across. After taking the 6-0 deficit, Emma Bailey came to the mound for the Boilermakers and worked a line out and a ground out to prevent further damage.
Bailey worked back-to-back strikeouts in the sixth to send the Boilers to their final chance at the plate, where Gossett got herself aboard with a walk followed by a Delaney Reefe taking a hit by pitch. The Boilers loaded the bases after a single from Jordyn Ramos, but were unable to plate a run as UCLA closed out the game.
