VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Jalen Elrod led Purdue Indoor Track & Field on the opening day of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships with First Team All-American honors in the pentathlon.
Cameron Miller was the only men's athlete to compete on Friday and placed fifth in the 200m semifinal (20.49) to advance to Saturday's final.
Elrod earned her All-American distinction with an eighth-place finish in the pentathlon. Zoe Sullivan added Second Team All-American honors in the 60m hurdles with a 12th-place finish.
Men's Notes
• Miller ran a 20.49 and took second in his heat on Friday night. It was his fourth fastest 200m time of the season.
• On Saturday Miller will look for his first top three finish at an NCAA Championships meet. He has finished top eight three times in the 200m and once in the 4x100m. His best finish at an NCAA Championship is fourth in the 200m when he was at Louisville (2023).
• Miller has now locked in the fifth First Team All-American honor of his career and third during indoor with his qualification for the finals.
Women's Notes
• Elrod earned 4,233 points to set a school record in the pentathlon for a third consecutive meet. Her performance was led by a first-place finish in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:11.56. The strong finish jumped Elrod three spots from 11th to eighth to earn the final podium spot.
• Friday's honor is Elrod's first on a national level and comes two weeks after she won her first Big Ten medal (silver) and was named Second Team All-Big Ten.
• She is the first athlete in school history to earn All-American honors in the pentathlon and first to earn a women's team point at nationals since 2018.
• Sullivan finished her indoor season 12th in the 60mH in 8.22 to earn her first All-American honor. She advanced to the NCAA Indoor Championships with a personal-best 8.08 earlier in the season.
• She is the second All-American 60m hurdler in school history and the first for the Boilermakers since Devynne Charlton in 2017.
