WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team remain undefeated on its home court this season after downing Rutgers, 4-1. With the victory, Purdue improves to a perfect 8-0 at home this season, 8-3 overall (2-2 Big Ten) while Rutgers falls to 7-4 (1-2 Big Ten).
Fatima Gutierrez had herself a day, beginning with a 6-1 victory alongside teammate Kathryn Wilson in doubles as the first court to finish. Gutierrez, a freshman, earned her third doubles and third singles victories of the year.
Carmen Gallardo Guevara improved to 7-3 spring singles record after a pair of 6-1 scores to record the first point of singles action. Ida Clement finished shortly after, securing a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The women will be back in action on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET when the squad takes on Maryland indoors at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
