WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Football upped the physicality of spring practice on Tuesday outside the Kozuch Football Performance Complex, completing their first practice of the week in shells.
Head coach Barry Odom met with the media to start the second week of spring ball. Defensive back Hudauri Hines and wide receiver Chauncey Magwood also visited with the local media after practice.
Through four practices, Odom has been pleased with the growth his newly melded team has made over the last week and a half.
"We've made really good progress," Odom said. "I like the development. If you said we're game ready, we're not there yet. We're learning situational ball, the teaching of the game and what that looks like."
Magwood, a transfer wide receiver who played 16 games in two seasons at UCF after 25 games in two seasons at Kentucky, told the media that Odom's coaching style was a draw to join Purdue in 2025.
"I just had a feeling that Coach Odom does not play, and I needed that," Magwood said. "I need a lot of criticism to build me into the man and player that I want to be. I felt that from him the first day I visit here."
Hines returns for his sophomore season after appearing in eight games last season. Despite all the new faces in the building, he has found comfort with the new group of Boilermakers.
"I'm way more comfortable with the coaching staff and my teammates," Hines said. "We [the players] built our chemistry fast. Everyone has been hanging around each other and getting to know each other, so that helps a lot."
The Boilermakers close out the second week of spring practice on Thursday morning.
