CLEMSON, S.C. and NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Purdue Indoor Track & Field's Payne Turney took the 5000m victory at the Music City Challenge to open the weekend. Britannia Johnson had the best performance at the Tiger Paw Invitational with her runner-up weight throw finish.
Men's Notes
• Jasiah Rogers ran a personal-best 6.63 in the 60m to move into a second-place tie in program history. He joined Raheem Mostert (2014) and Waseem Williams (2020) in the top three. Rogers was previously tied for fifth with a 6.66 that he ran last season.
• Nathan Walker finished seventh in the 5000m in 14:11.26 and jumped five spots in the final 1800m of the race.
• Cale Ayers advanced to the finals in the weight throw and finished eighth (18.98m / 61-03.25).
• Caleb Williams moved into a tie for No. 7 in program history with his 4:06.60 in the mile. He is now tied with Mike Mazier (1986) and Chris Cozort (1998).
Women's Notes
• Payne Turney went 16:16.95 in the 5000m that set a personal best by 27 seconds. It was the third fastest time in program history and the second fastest time by a Boilermaker since 1984. Her time currently ranks seventh in the Big Ten.
• Britannia Johnson moved into the Purdue top 10 rankings tied for sixth in the weight throw (19.45m / 63-09.75). The throw earned her a runner-up finish at the Tiger Paw Invitational. It was the furthest by a Boilermaker since 2019.
• In her collegiate debut, Blessing Ogundiran ran a 7.33 in the 60m semis to enter the Purdue rankings at No. 4. She ran 7.41 in the prelims and took second in her heat to advance to the semis.
• Zoe Sullivan ran 8.13 in the 60m hurdles semis after she ran 8.18 in the prelims. She finished 13th out of 61 and it was her fastest since she ran 8.08 on Jan. 10.
• Alexia Smith ran 53.84 in the 400m to fall 0.02 seconds shy of her indoor personal best.
