WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In a tight battle against Xavier, the match came down to the final two courts in singles, with Tara Milic clinching the team's victory on Court 6 in a back-and-forth tiebreaker battle. In the end, Purdue took down Xavier, 4-3.
With the victory, Purdue to improves to 3-1 on the season while handing Xavier its third loss of the season (1-3).
Tied 2-2, the match came down to the final three courts in play, with Ece Gener winning in tiebreaker fashion on Court 5, 6-3, 7-6 (2) as the tides began to turn towards Purdue. Then, with Milic on Court 6 and Juana Larranaga on Court 4, the Boilermakers clinched the victory with Milic.
In doubles, Milic and Gallardo Guevara came out firing on court one, taking the match with a smooth 6-2 score. Meanwhile, courts two and three finished nearly simultaneously, with Ashley Wilson and Ida Clement sealing Purdue's doubles point behind a 6-3 result.
