ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Purdue Indoor Track & Field took four victories at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational hosted by Michigan.
 
The Boilermakers took home victories by Antoine Spencer in the 200m (21.00), Nathan Walker in the 3000m (8:07.79), Grant Gogel in the pole vault (4.95m / 16-02.75) and Cale Ayers in the weight throw (19.86m / 65-02.00).
 
Purdue took 15 total top three finishes – 10 by the men's program and five by the women's.
 
Men's Notes
• Spencer's 200m debut with the Boilermakers placed him eighth in program history. He now accompanies two top 10 spots after he helped the 4x400m relay team to third in program history last week.
• Walker took the 3000m victory to move him to eighth in program history. It was a personal best by 10.9 seconds.
• Ayers won the weight throw on the final throw of the event. It was the first victory of his career.
• Gogel and Collin Kao both cleared the same height in pole vault to earn first and second in the event, respectively.
• Purdue swept the top three in the 200m with Nolan Macklin in second (21.51) and Jahn Riley in third (21.61).
 
Women's Notes
Zoe Sullivan entered the 200m program rankings at No. 8 after her runner-up finish in 24.07. Alexia Smith finished third in the event in 24.16.
Angeline Amefia ran 57.27 in her first collegiate 400m to finish third.  
Payne Turney finished third in the 3000m in 9:43.99 and fell just 1.86 seconds shy of a new personal best.
• In her second collegiate 3000m, Lauren Pegher ran 9:46.45 which was the third fastest by a Boilermakers' freshman in the last 15 seasons.
Britannia Johnson set a personal best in both the weight throw (18.86m / 61-10.50) and shot put (14.50 / 47-07.00). She was 0.06m from entering Purdue's top 10 list in weight throw.
 
Thoughts From Head Coach Tony Miller
"I thought the team came out and competed for the most part. The meet didn't have a ton of spark to it, but for us it was a meet we had to train through as far as fitness is concerned. They scored the meet, so it could look as if we didn't compete how we wanted to, but we know we had some great performances. As we start building towards Big Tens there's a lot of intensity things we need to do that we will think about."
