Miller Wins 300m, Purdue Has 3 Top 5 Finishes to Open Rod McCravy Memorial Invite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Purdue Indoor Track & Field completed day one of the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite with a Cameron Miller victory in the 300m and three other top five finals finishes.
 
In addition to the completed events, the Boilermakers qualified three athletes for the women's 60m hurdles semifinals and two athletes for the men's and women's 60m semifinals each.
 
Men's Notes
• Miller took his second 300m victory of the season in as many meets with a 32.56. The time is his second top 20 time in NCAA history after he ran 32.43 in the opener.
• In his Purdue debut, Antoine Spencer took third in the 300m at 32.82 that currently ranks seventh in the NCAA. It was the first 300m over Spencer's collegiate career after spending his freshman year at Hampton.
Cale Ayers set a personal best in the weight throw at 20.15m (66-01.50) to finish fourth on Friday. The throw moved Ayers into Purdue's top 10 indoor list at No. 9. He is just the third Purdue thrower to enter the list in the last 10 seasons.  
Andreas Hantson set a personal best indoor long jump in 7.15m (23-05.50) for a fourth-place finish. The mark fell just 0.01m shy of his career-long set at least year's Big Ten Outdoor Championships at part of the decathlon.
Nolan Macklin (6.74) and Jasiah Rogers (6.78) finished third and sixth respectively in the 60m prelims to qualify for Saturday's semifinals with a chance to race in the finals.  
 
Women's Notes
Zoe Sullivan took third in the 60m hurdles prelims in 8.28, while Angeline Amefia took 10th in 8.55 to both qualify for Saturday's semifinals. Bryanna Craig joins the duo in the semifinals after she 8.77.
Nia Wilson finished fourth in the 60m prelims in 7.40 and qualified alongside Jila Vaden who ran 7.57.
Britannia Johnson set a personal best in the weight throw with a 17.09m (59-05.00) mark that finish sixth. It was the second furthest throw of the season by a Boilermaker behind her sister Britannie Johnson's 18.37m (60.03-25) in the opener.
• Vaden added a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 5.81m (19-00.75) and qualified for the finals before she passed to focus on the 60m.

Purdue returns for the second and final day of the Rod McCravy Memorial Invite on Saturday, scheduled to begin field events at 11 a.m. and track events at noon.
