WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue cross country's Douglas Buckeridge prepares for the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Madison, Wis.

The men's 10K race is set to begin at 11:10 a.m. ET / 10:10 a.m. CT after the women's 6K race starts at 10:20 a.m. ET / 9:20 a.m. CT. The race will air on ESPNU and ESPN+.

Buckeridge is one of 38 individuals that will accompany 31 teams in the race. The field is set to feature 255 total runners with each team that qualified entering a maximum of seven athletes. The top 40 finishers that are USTFCCCA members will earn All-American honors.

In his second Great Lakes Regional appearance, Buckeridge took a runner-up finish with a program-record 29:12.9 in the 10K. The time was nearly a full minute faster than his race in 2023 that placed him 19th in 30:12.1.

Buckeridge is a two-time All-Region selection in his first two seasons as a Boilermaker.

The Melbourne, Australia native will look to become the first Boilermaker to run sub-30 minutes in a 10K NCAA Cross Country Championships race. William Shuey has the top time in a championship with his 30:03.1 in 1981.

In the current 10K format, implemented in 1976, Purdue has five All-American finishes – most recently Jaret Carpenter and Curtis Eckstein in 2019. In all formats since 1938, the men's cross country program has 13 All-American races produced by 10 different runners.

Rebecca Cotta is the only All-American finisher on the women's side in 1982.

After Buckeridge concludes the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships, Purdue will shift its focus to the indoor track & field season that starts on Dec. 13 in Chicago.
