Sapp Announces First Signing Class as Harvey, Aaraas Sign NLI

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – First-year Purdue head men's golf coach Andrew Sapp has announced his first recruiting class, consisting of two standout high school golfers that will be on the Boilermaker squad for the 2025-26 season.
Leo Aaraas and Will Harvey have signed their National Letters of Intent and will join the Boilermaker squad next fall.
 
"We have been looking forward to this signing class for a long time. Both Will and Leo committed to us a while ago and it has been great to watch them grow and continue to improve," Sapp said. "They will make great Boilermakers and will be incredible teammates in an effort for our golf team to reach our goals during their four years here."


Leo Aaraas | Baerum, Norway
  • Attended the same high school as former Boilermaker great Jarle Volden and continues the Norwegian pipeline that included All-American Herman Sekne.
  • Has appeared in three Boys Amateur Championships and two European Boys Team Championships. Also has made several appearances is the Norway National Junior Championship and National Junior Team Championships.
  • Competed on the Norwegian National Team Championship, winning the title with Oslo Golf Club. Also finished 18th at Norway's National Championship medalist race.
  • In 2023, reached the Boys Amateur Championship Round of 32, finishing 36th in stroke play and winning his first match in match play.
  • Competed in the European Boys Team Championship and won the SRIXON Tour Trysil and Made in Hollywood Ireland titles.
  • In 2022, made match play at the French International Boys Amateur and finished 2nd in the Junior National Championship.
  • Helped his team to a title at the 2022 Norway Team Invitational.
  • Also finished third at the International Trophy at Oslo Golf Club.
WHAT SAPP SAID: "Leo continues our connection with Norway, and we are thrilled that he will come play at Purdue in August. He has many tremendous international experiences playing golf which will help him transition to college golf quickly. Leo has a wonderful golf swing and brings a lot of skills to West Lafayette, and with his work ethic, he will continue to improve and grow into a great college golfer."
 

Will Harvey / Westfield, Indiana
  • One of Indiana's top golfers, Harvey continues the pipeline from Westfield to Purdue.
  • Has been named All-State twice after leading Westfield to the state runner-up three straight seasons. Harvey finished in the top 10 individually as a junior, winning regional medalist honors.
  • Owned the second-best stroke average in school history as a junior.
  • Led team to sectional titles in 2022 and 2023 and regional titles in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
  • Finished third at the 2024 Northern Amateur and 26th at the prestigious Wester Junior.
  • Was fourth in the 2024 Indiana Boys Junior Championship and won the 2023 AJGA Preview at Ann Arbor and sixth at the 2023 Bubba Conlee Invitational.
  • Also a standout basketball player, named second-team All-Conference after shooting over 46 percent from 3-point range as a junior. Was a teammate of current Purdue All-American Braden Smith.
WHAT SAPP SAID: "I remember the first time watching Will play in a regional and I was extremely impressed with his athleticism. Not only is he a great golfer but is also a starting guard on his high school basketball team. We are privileged that Will has chosen Purdue as we think he is a perfect fit for our golf program. He will be extremely familiar with our golf courses here as he has had a lot of success playing in Indiana Golf Association events on both the Kampen-Cosler and Ackerman-Allen courses."
