WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Baseball closes out its nine-game April homestand against a team that enters the week having won eight consecutive games, hosting Evansville on an April Tuesday at Alexander Field for the second year in a row.

Update: the game has been moved to Wednesady, April 24 at 6 p.m. due to rain in the forecast. Tickets can be used Wednesday or exchanged for general admission seats on May 1 or May 16-18.

First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. ET as the penultimate $3 midweek matchup of the season at Alexander. General admission tickets, hot dogs, beer, popcorn and nachos are all specially priced at $3.

The Boilermakers are currently 5-3 over the past fortnight at home. They've won nine of their last 12 since March 31 and have not lost consecutive games during that stretch.

Evansville's eight-game win streak is currently tied for the second longest nationally. It has featured consecutive weekend series sweeps vs. Illinois State and Bradley as well as midweek victories at Butler and Indiana. The Purple Aces have also won 13 of 15 since March 28, surging into second place in the Missouri Valley Conference behind Indiana State (29-8 overall). They were 9-15 overall entering the final weekend of March.

Last week the Boilermakers blasted a Ball State team that came to West Lafayette winners of 11 its last 12. Purdue's strong showing in April has come against some quality competition. Dating back to the three-game sweep at Rutgers (April 5-7) and including Tuesday's game vs. Evansville, five of the last six opponents have all reached the 20-win mark for the season and all have a realistic opportunity to finish their campaigns with winning records. Even Michigan State rebounded from getting outscored 42-3 in a series sweep at Alexander by winning three of four this past week, including taking two of three vs. Penn State.

Cole Van Assen is slated to make his sixth straight midweek start and has excelled in the role. The freshman has 16 strikeouts vs. six walks while compiling a 3.79 ERA in 19 innings. Purdue's team ERA over 55 innings in midweek action is 5.89. For the season, Van Assen has given the Boilermakers at least eight outs in all eight of his appearances and surrendered more than one earned run only twice. He went a season-high five innings last week vs. Ball State, with both runs he allowed coming on solo homers to open an inning.
