WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 58 Purdue women's tennis team will travel to Illinois to face the No. 37 Northwestern Wildcats Friday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. and the No. 35 Illinois Fighting Illini Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
 
The Boilermakers claimed another Big Ten victory in their most recent match against Nebraska, defeating the Cornhuskers 4-1. Earning singles wins were Carmen Gallardo Guevara, Csilla Fodor, Kennedy Gibbs and Tara Katarina Milic. In conference play, Purdue has gone 4-4 with an overall record of 11-7. With Fodor's most recent victory, the senior now ranks seventh in program history for the most career singles victories (78 wins). 
 
Purdue has three regular season conference matches left in 2024. With this year's four Big Ten wins, the Boilermakers can secure seven conference wins this season. The last time Purdue women's tennis achieved this feat was in 2018, going 7-4 against conference opponents.
 
The Northwestern Wildcats have gone 15-5 overall with a 6-1 record against Big Ten opponents. The Wildcats have one ranked singles player: No. 116 Justine Leong. Leong is also ranked in doubles at No. 57 with partner Christina Hand. At the one spot, Maria Shusharina has tallied a singles record of 8-3, going an undefeated 5-0 in conference play.
 
Illinois has tallied an overall record of 13-7 so far this season. When faced with Big Ten opponents, the Fighting Illini has gone 5-2. In their most recent matches, Illinois swept Minnesota 4-0 and fell to No. 30 Wisconsin 4-2. Prior to battling the Boilermakers on Sunday, Illinois will face Indiana on Friday, April 12.
