WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Boilermaker softball squad faced a 0-2 setback vs. Omaha in the second game of the three-game series. Purdue out-hit Omaha 6-2 in the outing and committed no errors while Omaha produced one.
The Boilermakers loaded the bases in the second inning, an effort beginning with a one-out triple by Alivia Meeks, and was followed by a walk by Ashlynn Campbell and a hit-by-pitch for Kate Claypool. The Boilermakers were tagged out at home on a fielder's choice and was followed by a strikeout to end the inning.
Leading the team was Sage Scarmardo with two hits. The third baseman owns the longest hitting streak on the team, recording a hit in the last 10 straight games.
Starting pitcher Kendall Klochack saw the first four innings, producing two strikeouts, including one looking, and allowed one hit and one run. Emma Bailey came in relief for the final 3.0 innings, allowing one run and three hits. Combined, the Boilermakers allowed just one walk for the second consecutive game.
With the result, Purdue falls to 11-13 while Omaha improves to 20-7.
