On two occasions over the first month of the spring semester, the Boilermakers are also hosting multiple teams for dual meets. Missouri and the Illinois women are in town Jan. 13 and it is Purdue's turn in the three-year rotation to host the Big Ten Triple Duals/Quad vs. Minnesota, Northwestern and the Iowa women. That meet also features a two-day format and is set for the weekend of Feb. 2-3.

Based in Rochester, Michigan, on the north end of Suburban Detroit, Oakland has won 10 consecutive Horizon League titles – both men and women – since joining the conference for the 2013-14 school year. Dating back to their days in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Conference and later the Mid-American Conference/Summit League, the Golden Grizzlies have a pair of impressive streaks of consecutive conference championships – 45 for the men and 29 by the women.

Purdue last competed against Oakland during the 1989-90 (men) and 1999-00 (women) seasons. Both programs hired from within when replacing a longtime head coach in the spring. Mitch Alters replaced Pete Hovland (44 years) as the leader of Oakland's programs just as Alex Jerden succeeded Dan Ross (38 years). Hovland and Ross both ranked top five nationally among longest-tenured (active) head coaches entering March 2023.

The Purdue women are competing against Rutgers in the fall for the third consecutive year. The home team has won the dual each of the last two seasons. Last year's road trip to New Jersey also featured a two-day dual format.
