WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue Women's Tennis team is set for their first action of the fall season as they travel to compete in the June Stewart Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 22-24.
Purdue enters the fall coming off a 15-8 spring campaign. The Boilermakers went 6-5 in Big Ten play and racked up wins over then #46 Maryland and #71 Nebraska. The team closed out the season as #49 in the ITA rankings, the best finish to a season since 2014-15.
The Boilers are poised for another successful season as the team returns seven of last year's eight players. With redshirt senior Liz Norman's departure, head coach Laura Glitz filled the empty roster spot with UCSB transfer, Calissa Dellabarca. Dellabarca joins the Boilermakers ready to kickstart her collegiate career after appearing in just one match as a freshman.
With so much young talent returning, the Boilermakers are looking to make a splash in their fall slate with 26 of their 37 fall wins taking the court this weekend.
Purdue will take on host Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and Louisville in a round-robin style tournament.
The tournament will provide an immediate test for the Boilers as Vanderbilt will roll out three ITA-ranked singles players (#12 Celia-Belle Mohr, #67 Bridget Stammel and #103 Anessa Lee) and one ranked doubles team (#59 Celia-Belle Mohr/Holly Staff). Ole Miss's Ludmila Kareisova also enters the weekend in the Top 50 of singles players sitting at #42.
Fans will be able to live stream all matches and live stats will be provided for each round of competition.
