WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue Men's Tennis coach Geoff Young added another recruit to the 2023 recruiting class on Thursday by signing DePaul transfer Marino Jakic.
Jakic, a native of Croatia, is the seventh recruit in the 2023 class adding to the impressive list of signees including Jakic's former teammate and fellow DePaul transfer, Aleksa Krivokapic.
Jakic is the second transfer in the 2023 recruiting class and the second recipient of the Big East Freshman of the Year award. Like Krivokapic, Jakic received the honor in 2022 after debuting with a 19-19 singles record at a demanding No. 2 position and an 18-14 record in doubles.
Jakic also received the 2022 Big East Championship 'Most Outstanding Player' award when he clinched the winning point over St. John's to secure a second consecutive conference title for the Blue Demons and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
Before his collegiate career, Jakic accrued experience all over the world by competing for the Croatian national team twice, winning four ITF Jr. tournament titles in doubles and a pair of club national championships. was rated as the number-one recruit in the nation out of high school.
