IOWA CITY, Iowa – A three-game roadtrip for the Purdue soccer team commences with a nationally-televised matchup at Iowa on Thursday, October 13, in Iowa City, Iowa.
 
Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
 
The match will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and on the Fox Sports app, with Connor Onion and Lauren Link on the call. Live stats are available at Purdue.Statbroadcast.com. Thursday is the start of a three-game roadtrip for Purdue, and it also begins the second-to-last week of the regular season. It is the Boilermakers' fifth of six games to air on national television in 2022.
 
Purdue is 3-9-1 and 0-5-1 in the Big Ten after a 2-1 loss to Illinois on Sunday. The Hawkeyes are 3-6-5 on the year and 0-3-3 in Big Ten play following a 1-0 loss at Minnesota on Sunday.
 
Statistically, junior midfielder Emily Mathews is fifth in the Big Ten with five assists and sophomore forward Gracie Dunaway is No. 10 in the league with five goals and No. 5 with a .500 shot accuracy. Dunaway leads the team with 12 points, 28 shots and 14 shots on goal. Freshman forward Kayla Budish is second on the team with six points, 24 shots and 10 shots on goal.
 
As a team, Purdue is second in the Big Ten with 4.92 saves per game. The Boilermakers have scored 14 goals and recorded 15 assists for 43 points. They have made 64 saves for a .711 save percentage with a 2.00 goals-against average.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. IOWA
The Boilermakers own an 8-10-4 all-time record against Iowa and they are 3-7-2 in Iowa City. Purdue has won two of the last three matchups, including a thrilling 2-1 win in overtime in 2021 at Folk Field.
 
Last season's 2-1 win on September 26 came in dramatic, come-from-behind fashion, as then-senior forward Sarah Griffith tied the match at 1-1 with 18.9 seconds left in regulation. In overtime, then-senior midfielder Teagan Jones won it in the 98th minute with her first goal of the season. Griffith and Jones' heroics came after the Hawkeyes scored the game's first goal in the 87th minute.
 
Both teams had 17 shots, while Purdue had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Then-senior goalkeeper Marisa Bova made two saves and the Boilermaker defense cleared another shot off the line. Three current Boilermakers earned assists on Purdue's goals, with now-junior defender Nicole Kevdzija assisting on the game-tying goal and now-junior midfielder Emily Mathews and now-senior defender Lauren Holleran assisting with the game winner.

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
Iowa is 3-6-5 in 2022 with a 0-3-3 Big Ten mark and a 1-2-2 record at home. The Hawkeyes are unbeaten in their last six, with a 1-0 loss at Minnesota on October 9 that followed back-to-back draws, at Illinois, 2-2, and against Michigan, 1-1.
 
UI is No. 6 in the Big Ten with 3.79 saves per game and 6.14 shots on goal per game. The Hawkeyes have scored 17 goals with 11 assists for 45 points, while the goalkeepers have made 53 saves for a .791 save percentage with a 1.00 goals-against average. Individually, three players have scored a team-high-tying three goals, including Hailey Rydberg, who also paces the squad with four assists and 10 points.
 
LAST TIME OUT: EDGED BY ILLINI
On October 9, Purdue lost a 2-1 contest to Illinois at Folk Field. U of I took a 1-0 lead in the opening minute before senior forward Gabby Hollar scored the equalizer in the 14th. The visitors regained the advantage with a penalty kick goal in the 59th minute.
 
The Boilermakers held a 19-15 advantage in shots, while the Fighting Illini had an 8-4 edge in shots on goal. Illinois had seven corner kicks to Purdue's six. Dunaway registered a match-high five shots and two shots on goal, and Hollar added four shots, two on target. In goal, senior Emma Tompkins earned the start and made six saves in the first appearance of her collegiate career.
 
Sunday was Senior Day, where Purdue's seven seniors were recognized prior to their penultimate game at Folk Field. Fifth-year Sydney Duarte and seniors Hollar, Lauren Holleran, Hannah Lapeire, Leanna Rebimbas, Tompkins and Chloe Woodbeck were honored for their contributions to the Purdue Soccer program throughout their careers.

UP NEXT: PLAYING FOR THE GOLDEN BOOT
An in-state rivalry is on tap, as Purdue travels to Indiana to play for the Golden Boot Trophy on Sunday, October 16. Kickoff in Bloomington is at 2 p.m. ET, and the game will air live on the Big Ten Network. One more road game follows before the Boilermakers return to Folk Field for the final time in 2022 on Sunday, October 23, against Maryland at 2 p.m. ET.
