WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's basketball head coach Matt Painter has announced that Jason Kabo has joined the staff as the director of strength and conditioning.
Kabo joins the Boilermakers' staff after spending 23 years as part of the UNLV strength and conditioning program, most recently as the director of strength and conditioning for Olympic sports and the last 18 years working with the Runnin' Rebels men's basketball program.
"We are thrilled to have Jason join our family," Painter said. "Jason brings with him a wealth of experience and success at UNLV. His attention to detail and energy will be a very valuable asset for our program and we are excited to get him working with our guys."

I will be forever grateful for the experiences I've had at UNLV and in Las Vegas," Kabo said. "I am grateful and excited to join the Boilermakers' basketball program. This is a program that is built on culture, tradition and hard work, and a program that takes great pride in doing things the right way. I look forward to bringing consistency and a diverse level of experience to Purdue basketball to help maintain our place among the top basketball programs in the country."
A 1999 graduate of Slippery Rock (Pennsylvania) with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, Kabo started his career as a volunteer and intern in UNLV's strength & conditioning department, he was promoted to assistant strength & conditioning coach and then assistant director in 2007. He was the Director of Strength & Conditioning overseeing all strength & conditioning for Olympic Sports.
He just finished his 18th year overall working with the men's basketball program, and also worked directly with women's basketball, volleyball, and women's golf at UNLV.
Kabo has also been involved in various basketball camps, including the NBA Pre-Draft Camp. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the NSCA.
He and his wife, Sheri, have two daughters, Madeline and Reese.
