RICHMOND, Va. – Purdue swimming & diving's continued success in the classroom earned the men and women at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center Scholar All-America Team distinction again from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.
The CSCAA's biannual lists of Scholar All-America Teams were released this week. The Boilermakers were once again on the list, as they have been every after every semester for more than a decade. The Big Ten Conference was among the 16 leagues nationally to have 100% of its programs – men and women – recognized for grade-point averages of 3.0 and higher.
PURDUE WOMEN'S TEAM
• Fall 2021 Semester Team GPA: 3.42
• Cumulative Team GPA: 3.54
• Student-Athletes with 4.0 semester GPAs: 7
• Boilermakers to earn 3.5+ GPAs for the semester: 23
• Boilermakers to earn 3.0+ GPAs for the semester: 32
PURDUE MEN'S TEAM
• Fall 2021 Semester Team GPA: 3.39
• Cumulative Team GPA: 3.34
• Student-Athletes with 4.0 semester GPAs: 4
• Boilermakers to earn 3.5+ GPAs for the semester: 19
• Boilermakers to earn 3.0+ GPAs for the semester: 29
The Purdue women have now posted a team GPA of 3.40-plus for eight straight semesters.
Meanwhile, the Purdue men have seen their team GPA rise over the last few years. Their 3.39 team mark this past semester was up from 3.31 in the fall of 2020, 3.21 in the fall of 2019 and 3.01 in the fall of 2018.|
"Coaches Dan Ross and John Klinge have Purdue operating at a high level in and out of the pool. These 75 men and women are some of Purdue's and the Big Ten Conference's best ambassadors," said Greg Earhart, executive director of the CSCAA.
In total, 728 teams from 450 colleges and universities across the country earned Scholar All-America team honors for the 2021 fall semester. Teams with GPA of 3.3 and higher are eligible for the Intercollegiate Coach Association Coalition All-Sport academic standings.
