SENIOR DAY MEET INFORMATION
Purdue vs. No. 7/12 Indiana, No. 17/14 Ohio State & Rutgers (W)
Saturday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. ET / BTN+ & Facebook
Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center / West Lafayette, Indiana
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimming & diving's third and final meet of the Big Ten dual season doubles as the annual Senior Day meet as the Boilermakers welcome Indiana and Ohio State as well as the Rutgers women to the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center on Saturday.
Action begins at 10 a.m. ET, with the Senior Day ceremony after the meet this year at approximately 1:30 p.m. Swimming events and the post-meet ceremony will be streamed live on BTN+. Diving events will be streamed live at Facebook.com/PurdueSwimDive.
The meet is closed to the public. The mezzanine level will be utilized as additional team space to comply with university and conference COVID-19 protocols. Student-athletes have been asked to remain among their teammates in the mezzanine level until right before they are scheduled to compete in an event.
Ohio State officially joined the meet last week after the Buckeyes' scheduled dual vs. Michigan was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in Ann Arbor. Saturday's seven-team meet is slated to the largest one-day dual at the Burke Aquatic Center since Purdue hosted Iowa, Northwestern and the Ohio State men in November 2013. Purdue's annual Indiana Intercollegiates meet, traditionally held on a Saturday in late October, features more teams but is scored with an invitational format.
The 400 individual medley and 3-meter diving will be featured Saturday as non-scoring exhibition events. Platform diving is replacing 3-meter as a scored event, which is customary when Purdue and Indiana square off for their annual dual meet. It's a traditional 16-event dual meet format otherwise, except with the 400 IM being the first event of the day before the 200 medley relay. There will be two heats of each event per gender.
LANE ASSIGNMENTS
• Purdue: 3 & 6
• Indiana: 2 & 5
• OSU: 4 & 7
• Rutgers: 1 & 8 (Those lanes available as exhibition for men's heats)
DIVING SCHEDULE
• Segment 1: Men's 1-Meter, Women's 3-Meter, Women's Platform (10 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.)
• Segment 2: Women's 1-Meter, Men's 3-Meter, Men's Platform (11:55 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.)
SENIOR SALUTE
• The Boilermakers will be recognizing 20 seniors after the meet. That group includes team managers Izzy Izquierdo, Doug Keyes and Anthony Phan along with 17 student-athletes. Purdue's senior class includes Caylee Casbon, Emily Converse, Katie Hughes, Evan King, Riley Kishman, Kelsey Macaddino, Natalie Myers and Angela Pan from the women's team; Nate Barsanti, Greg Duncan, Gabi Gomez Treig, Jason Jung, Ryan Lawrence, Brandon Loschiavo, Trent Pellini, Michael Smith and Dale Williams from the men's team. Together they've experienced the highs of winter training trips to Hawaii and Florida, plus the lows of the havoc wrecked by the coronavirus pandemic. But they've found a way to persevere over the last year, helping Purdue post record team grade-point averages while also continuing to set a high standard and positive example for the underclassmen. Purdue Athletics remains very proud of how its seniors have carried themselves amidst all the challenges related to this one-of-a-kind school year.
• Because Purdue's home meets remain closed to the public, parents of the seniors were invited to submit a video sharing memories and encouragement with their son or daughter. The videos will be played on the videoboard at the pool during the Senior Day ceremony.
• Emily Bretscher, Nikola Bjelajac and Batuhan Hakan are among the four-year members of the programs that have committed to returning to the active rosters next season.
