Purdue Baseball's Intraquad Series

Black Team vs. Gold Team – 3 six-inning games
Thursday, Oct. 17 to Saturday, Oct. 19
Game 1 at 3:30 p.m. ET / Game 2 at 5 p.m. ET / Game 3 at 1 p.m. ET
Alexander Field / West Lafayette, Indiana

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The fall ball season at Alexander Field concludes this week with Purdue baseball's annual Black & Gold Series, which is again open to the public.

It's a three-game, 18-inning intrasquad series this fall. All three games will be scheduled six-inning affairs, making every inning even more critical in the short series. Further incentive to win comes via the menu options for Saturday's postgame meal. The winning team dines on steak. The losing team settles for hot dogs and beans.

Games are set for Thursday at 3:30 p.m. ET, Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. It's free admission all fall at Alexander Field.

Alumni Harry Shipley and John Madia selected the Black & Gold Series teams this fall and will also serve as the managers. Shipley's Black Team roster is headlined by seniors Milo Beam, Bryce Bonner, Cole McKenzie and Johnny Sage. Madia's selections for his Gold Team roster included veterans Zac Fascia, Skyler Hunter, Ben Nisle and Tyler Powers. Purdue's 44-man fall roster was split evenly at 22 apiece for the series.

Fascia, Hunter and McKenzie all had three hits in the 2018 Black & Gold Series, which featured only 15 ½ innings of action. Fascia and McKenzie hit safely in all three games, providing a little foreshadowing of things to come in the spring as the two transfers went on to make a combined 107 starts.

Upcoming offseason events for the Boilermakers include the Tuesday, Oct. 29 Halloween Bash at Alexander (free and all ages) and the First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Holloway Gymnasium.
