WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – New head coach Greg Goff has announced that all of Purdue baseball's fall scrimmages this semester at Alexander Field will be open to the public.
The Boilermakers open their fall practice schedule Thursday, Sept. 5 with the first of their 12 public scrimmages. Most of the scrimmages set for Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. ET. Dates and start times are subject to change without notice.
Purdue's three fall exhibition games and three-game Black & Gold Series will also feature free admission at Alexander Field. Exhibition games are set for Sept. 13, Oct. 5 and Oct. 11. The Black & Gold Series is scheduled for Oct. 17 to 19 to conclude fall practice, with all three games played regardless of the outcome of the first two.
The Boilermakers have 44 players on their fall roster – 26 returnees from the 2019 season and 18 newcomers. The coaching staff also features a nice blend of new and familiar faces.
Goff was promoted to head coach in June after serving as an assistant the last two years. The 2020 campaign will be Goff's 15th season as a collegiate head coach. He retained assistant coach Cooper Marks, who joined the Boilermakers in July 2018. Alumnus John Madia also begins his fifth year as the program's director of operations. Four-year starting shortstop Harry Shipley has returned to campus as an assistant coach. Evansville native Chris Marx is the new pitching coach, bringing 10 years of collegiate coaching experience with him to Alexander Field.
More information about Purdue's fall exhibition games and Black & Gold series will be released later this fall. Purdue Athletics will be offering live coverage of those six games.
