Meitz Posts Pair of Top-5 Finishes at Winter Nationals

Full Meet Results / Olympic Trials Cuts

GREENSBORO, N.C.
– Purdue alumna Kaersten Meitz finished among the top eight in all three of her events at USA Swimming's Winter National Championships.

Meitz was an A finalist in both the 200- and 400-meter freestyle, finishing in a tie for third in the 400. She also placed fourth overall in the finals-only 800-meter free. The 2018 Purdue graduate posted times in all three events that once again qualified her for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Meitz continues to train at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center under the guidance of Purdue head coach John Klinge. The four-time NCAA Championships qualifier has already qualified for the 2019 World University Games in Italy.

Meitz finished third among a field of 52 competitors in the 400 free. The 200 free featured a field of 58 and the 37 women raced in the 800 free. Olympic champion and world record holder Katie Ledecky won all three events.

Purdue divers are slated to compete at USA Diving's Winter Trials next month in Atlanta (Dec. 16-21).
