WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The strength of play in the Big Ten conference was on full display this weekend inside the Schwartz Tennis Center. Though only six of the twelves programs are ranked in the top 50, any can claim a contested dual in April. The Boilermakers proved that Saturday with their 4-3 win over No. 46 Wisconsin; however, they were unable to repeat the feat Sunday against No. 31 Minnesota. The home team fell 5-2 in just under three hours on the Basham Courts.

In doubles, Purdue opened the match with loses on courts one and three. Mateo Julio and Dominik Sochurek fell 6-2 at the first position against Felix Corwin and Josip Krstanovic, while Gergely Madarasz and Javier Rodriguez could not overcome a break at the third, losing 6-4 to Marino Alpeza and Stefan Milicevic.

At the clinch, Athell Bennett and Maksymilian Raupuk's court two contest against Eli Ogilvy and Matic Spec was suspended.

In singles, Purdue was in control of four of the six first sets; however, the team could only muster a pair of wins. Boilermakers Raupuk and Sochurek went on to lose their contests in straight sets at the second and sixth positions, respectively. The first fell 7-5, 6-1 to No. 86 Spec, and the later lost 6-3, 6-2 to Jackson Allen. Conversely, Bennett swept Krstanovic 6-3, 6-4 on court four to secure Purdue its first point of the dual.

At 3-1 Minnesota, Rodriguez, who claimed the Boilermakers' second first set, was unable to close against Vlad Lobak on court five. The freshman's 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 loss was his fifth in a row overall and the deciding match against the Badgers.

After the clinch, Julio dropped his court three contest 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 against No. 96 Milicevic, and No. 92 Madarasz defeated No. 101 Corwin 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 at the first position.
