BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The entire season comes down to what happens over the course of two days at the Big Ten Wrestling Championships. Purdue's wrestlers will go to battle on four mats Indiana's Simon Skojdt Assembly Hall in the first of two sessions Saturday starting at 10 a.m. ET. Their goal: earn a berth to the NCAA Championships.
Six Boilermakers are seeded in two-day tournament that runs through Sunday. Their highest seeded wrestler is Jacob Morrissey, tabbed No. 7 at 174 pounds. Luke Welch and Christian Brunner are seeded eighth at 133 and 197 pounds, respectively.
Five weight classes have all 14 competitors seeded due to the fact the Big Ten received nine or more NCAA Championships qualifier allocation slots. These weight classes include 133, 141, 157, 174 and 184. Half of Purdue's seeded wrestlers are in a weight class that is seeded 1-14. Alex Griffin is No. 10 at 157 pounds, Tanner Lynde at No. 11 at 184 and Kyle Ayersman is No. 12 at 141.
