No. 29 Purdue Women's Tennis Shuts Out Georgia State

March 7, 2015

LINCOLN, Neb. - The 29th-ranked Purdue women's tennis team registered its first shutout of the season, blanking Georgia State, 6-0, in a neutral setting at the Lincoln Racquet Club Saturday. The Boilermakers captured their fourth-straight victory in the spring season while lifting their record to 6-2, 1-0 B1G.

The Old Gold & Black jumped ahead early in the match by taking the doubles point from the Panthers. In the No. 2 spot, Lynda Xepoleas and Natalia Davila won their fifth-consecutive while playing side-by-side, defeating Niri Rasolomalala and Kristin Rehse, 8-2.

An 8-1 decision from Nicole Robinson and Krisztina Kapitany at No. 3 over Chaimaa Roudami and Veronika Golanova clinched the point. The sophomore and junior notched their second win together.

In as many times the Boilermakers have captured the doubles point, they have come away with the dual victory and Saturday it was no different.

Purdue dominated as the action moved to singles, taking all of the matches from Georgia State in straight sets. Xepoleas continued her hot streak by posting a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Rehse in the No. 3 spot.

Robinson earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Golanova in the No. 4 spot. Since entering the lineup on Feb. 20, the sophomore has played to a 4-0 mark.

Breaking out of a slump was Andjela Djokovic as the sophomore disposed of Roudami, 6-4, 6-2, while playing at No. 5.

At the top of the Boilermaker lineup, Daniela Vidal notched a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Rasolomalala as the senior pushed her record to 8-4 during the spring season with her third consecutive win. Right behind her in the No. 2 spot, Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum made easy work of Linn Timmermann, 6-4, 6-0, to take her record to 8-2 this season.

Purdue suits up again on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET against B1G opponent Nebraska (10-0) at the Nebraska Tennis Center in its final dual of the road trip.
